True to Every Measure

Calibration Company Name & Identity Development

In aerospace, defense, medical, and manufacturing, every measurement matters — a miscalibrated instrument can mean a failed inspection, a grounded aircraft, or a compromised device. When JLL Partners brought together two respected calibration companies, TMI (founded 1991) and MQC (founded 1978), each known for never cutting corners and covering nearly 100 percent of a customer’s calibration needs, the goal was to build the largest independent calibration services company in the U.S. But unifying two legacy brands known mainly by their three-letter acronyms required more than operational integration — it needed a name and identity that could rally employees, signal ambition to the market, and stand apart from an entrenched competitor set.

TruMetric, the name Catchword created, is direct and confident — it leads with truth and trustworthiness while “metric” grounds it squarely in the world of measurement and precision. The visual identity reinforces that promise: a bold system anchored by a distinctive red dot, a proprietary brand element that evokes accuracy, verification, and consistency across every touchpoint. Together, the name and identity give the combined company what its predecessor brands couldn’t — a single, credible, scalable presence built to lead a consolidating industry.
