Finance Naming for Mobillcash
Mobillcash wanted to rename their company and their new product, which allowed consumers to make online payments with their cell phones. Most competitors’ names were boringly descriptive. We went looser, to stand out. Boku, coined from the French “beaucoup” (meaning “a lot”), got right to an emotional payoff: the feeling of abundance. And Boku was more accessible than the French. (Aren’t most things?)
