The idea was simple enough: an online service that matched customers with local businesses. Finding the right name—and the exact dot-com domain—wasn’t quite as simple, however. We paired up hundreds of real English words until we landed on Matchpoint. The intuitive name communicated a kind of destination or meeting place, and the idea of intense competition.
