    Chandler Bing.

Bing makes me think of a game-show. Complete with a cheezy host in a tacky suit, gleefuly pointing out – with his finger, no less – that you’re time is up! :)

First thought was Chandler Bing, second was cherries

The closest I can get is “Fries are up” but really it’s the sound my toaster oven makes when the toast is done. I guess that indicates something is “ready” and it’s a bit cute and catchy so even though I loathe Microsoft (being a Mac user since the Dark Ages), I think it will probably work for them — assuming the search engine actually works the way it should.

Yes, Bing reminds me of cherries, but not the kind you eat.
    .
More like the three cherries in a slot machine window. When all three of them come up at once, the slot machine makes a “bing” sound, and the money pours out.
    .
I’m betting that Bing is an auditory brand, much like StubHub.
    .
Where do you think we will hear it?
When we enter a search and the answer links pop up?

You missed an obvious one.. Southwest Airlines. “*BING* You are now free to move about the country”. They’ve been using the “bing” for their branding for year!

As the Soporanos’ Ralph Cifaretto famously said.. “I disrespected the bing”
